Salary and benefits
in South Korea
Teachers will be recruited according to the following criterion
under GEPIK (Gyeonggi province English Program in Korea) and EPIK
(English Program in Korea) and SOME (Seoul Metropolitan Office of
Education):
Our requirement lies in both Metropolitan cities and Provinces. If
teachers are placed in rural/fishing/remote areas, they will be
entitled to get paid another 100,000 -200,000 won as rural
allowance along with provincial allowance. However the amount of
provincial pay may vary according to special rural allowance and
multiple school teaching allowance.
The pay package will depend on candidate’s educational
qualification as well as teaching experience (Only full time
teaching experience will be counted).
The basic salary structure will vary from US$ 2,100 to US$3000
(Applicable to GEPIK, SOME & EPIK).
Under normal situation teachers with
Degree + TESOL will earn - US$2100
Degree + TESOL + 1 yr experience – US $ 2500
Degree + TESOL + 2 yr experience – US $ 2700
Masters Degree + TESOL + 1/2 yr experience – US $ 3,000
The remuneration also vary from city to towns!

In general during
their teaching contract in South Korea teachers will be entitled
to get all the benefits mentioned in their contract paper under
the The Labor Standard Act in South Korea.

Teachers will get
their salary on the twenty fifth of each month.
14 days (calendar
days) paid vacation in summer and winter (7 working days in each
semester). * Usually, teachers get more than two weeks paid
vacation per session.

occasions like marriage, death, maternity leave and in case of
emergency
Rural allowance
Medical insurance
pursuant to The National Health Insurance Act of Korea (The
National Health Insurance Act states all government employees will
be liable for 50% of costs). If Employee has his/her dependents
living with him/her in Korea, Employer will also pay for health
insurance for them.
In the case of renewal
of this contract pursuant to the foregoing 1, Employee shall be
given a fourteen day (14) (weekend and national holidays
inclusive) additional home leave vacation period which is extra,
beyond the 14 days’ yearly paid leave. Flight fare reimbursed.
