Placement Process for ESL Teachers in Korea

1. Application: Candidate should submit their completed application online.

2. Evaluation: By American TESOL Institute academic department.

3. Telephonic interview: In the next 48 hours

4. Acceptance letter: Will be sent by ATI in next 48 hours.

5. Enrollment: Candidates have to register for the program they applied for with ATI in next 48 hours

6. Telephonic discussion: by Korvia Consulting in next 48 hours after registration

7. Teaching contract paper: Will be sent by Korvia Consulting in next 48 hours to one week

8. Visa Processing: Soon after your enrollment into the TEFL Course, the Visa Processing will start. Entire Visa processing will be taken care of by Korvia Consulting.

9. Visa Processing and the Online TEFL Certification Course will take place simultaneously.


Required documents: Initially all candidates must arrange the following documents as soon as possible and submit to Korvia to start the Visa Processing soon after registering into the course: All instructions will be given to you be Korvia.

  • A copy of passport (the photo page)

  • Resume (CV) and cover letters (personal statement)

  • Reference letter (two preferred which must contain the referee’s phone number and address)

  • 2 passport sized photograph (must be in color and a recent one)

  • A nice large photo if available (professional)

  • An original or notarized copy of degree (graduation certificate); Korean immigration office and Ministry Office of Education will ask to submit either original degree or notarized copy; Canadian citizens are required to get it notarized from Korean Consulate or Public notary “Apostille”; Candidates must bring the original copy of degree as well.

  • Three original copies of sealed and enveloped University transcripts must be stamped or signed by University. (1 copy for our use, 1 copy will go to the employer, 1 copy for Korean Consulate in your country)

  • An original and notarized copies TESOL/ TEFL/ TESL/ CELTA certificate

  • You need to produce original employment proof of previous or current employer (Only full time experience will be considered)

  • Anyone who applies for the E2 visa must submit a notarized criminal record check either by your local police station or Ministry of Justice. It must be euthanized by Korean consulate (in case of Canadian) or by public notary “Appostille” stamped. As it takes more time than any other document, you are requested to start working on it soon after you register with us.

  • You will be given “self medical evaluation form” by Korvia and you need to apply with that “self checked form”. But remember you need to do the Official Health Check once you arrive in Korea.

  • You will be given three contract papers by Korvia and you need to sign on each and every paper.

  • Teacher mails required documents to Korea Office Address by FedEx or DHL ONLY

Estimated Total Costs to get your E-2 visa: $110
Time frame: Once you submit all you documents to Korvia, they will start the Visa processing and it will take 18-25 days to get it done.
